Big storms rock Canberra...

We got hit with some pretty bad storms yesterday. Terrential downpours, hail, thunder and lightning.

This picture was taken at the end of our street on our way out to see a play that Chad and Kali were involved. It was just after the rain had begun eased a little.

There was a raging torrent running through here since this stormwater drain services most of the suburb. The water came within about 4-5 metres of the next door neighbours fence. Water running down our street was contributing to it and half of the turn around circle at the end of the cul-de-sac was under about 6 inches of water. Quite amazing to see. Fortunately, we didn't suffer any damage and the water level didn't appear to get any higher.

Mum and Dad weren't so lucky. Giralang seems to have been hardest hit with huge dumps of large hail and lashing rain, which has completely obliterated the plants in Dad's garden, shredded their new bbq cover and flooded their conservatory and back path. They also had water flooding in under the front door and spillinbg in through the kitchen as well as water leaking in through the skylight in the kitchen. Not good...
